Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for posting and analyzing cash entries, daily payment decisioning, various accounting journal entries and processes related to both daily and month-end transactions, including high volume bank reconciliations, and month-end balance sheet reconciliations.

Your Impact:

Review banking exceptions daily, responsible for investigation into insured records to apply to correct accounts - including retrieving images from the banking system, applying to insured balances into our internal system, tracking and investigating issues.

Process daily cash receipts and banking transfers from various sources; reconcile receipts to daily bank activity by payment method; process daily bank deposits and applicable journal entries into the accounting system.

Responsible for preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including Affinity Premium Receivables, Carrier Payables, and others as assigned.

Responsible for completing timely and accurately, with follow-through of any reconciling items as needed.

Work with banking institutions to identify payments that can be converted to electronic payments.

Responsible for posting month-end transactions related to balance transfers, cash estimates, pulling month-end statements from the banking systems.

Responsible for tracking 1099 vendors, including throughout the year, as well as assisting Corporate Accounting with year-end 1099 reports required to be sent out.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

Associate degree in accounting or a related field.

3+ years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial analysis experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees within the organization.
