Campus Safety Aide

Southeastern University Campus Safety Aide Application Procedures Applicants for Campus Safety Aide positions must submit the following items: ● Brief letter of application (maximum two pages typed) that explains why you want to be a Campus Safety Aide.

● Copy of current semester class schedule.

● Hours of availability ● Preference will be given to Criminal Justice majors Job Description Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions ● Escort and assist students, employees, and visitors, as needed, to locations on campus, including university-owned parking areas.

● Perform patrols of campus and campus buildings and be observant for suspicious persons, suspicious incidents, and unsafe circumstances (violations of fire safety regulations, faulty equipment or conditions that could contribute to accidents/injury, improper lighting, etc.). ● Be able to provide a clear description of persons (height, weight, hair color, gender, clothing, etc.), vehicles, and equipment.

● Report any suspicious incidents, suspicious persons, or unsafe circumstances to on-duty security or law enforcement personnel on campus via hand-held radios.

● Staff the Security Post, answer the telephone and assist with dispatching calls for service via radio.

● Assist with providing information or direction during emergency evacuations.

● Locate parking violations and notify officers for enforcement.

● Ability to take notes while investigating reported incidents and write detailed security reports.

● Must wear the Campus Safety Aide uniform shirt, ID badge, and hand-held radio while on-duty.

● Safely operate university golf carts while conducting patrols or performing escorts.

● Must complete mandatory on-the-job training.

● Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.

Physical Requirements ● Able to stand for extended periods of time ● Able to walk the campus area.

● Able to lift 30-45 lbs.

● Able to drag an unconscious person to safety.

● Able to climb stairs.

Desired Qualifications ● First Aid certification ● CPR certification Southeastern University Campus Safety Aide ● Knowledge of campus traffic and parking regulations and SEU Community Standards ● Familiarity with Google Forms
