What You'll Do:

Primary duties include leading a team of construction materials testing technicians

Overseeing and coordinating the schedules and work of technicians

Responsible for day-to-day operations of the team with consideration to financial performance

Training and supervising both existing and new technicians as needed

Reviewing employee time and expenses to ensure that all are correctly recorded and coded for billing

Conducting and/or assisting with coaching, performance evaluations, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policies

Promoting safe work practices and ensuring proper PPE is used

Assisting and/or being responsible for maintaining appropriate staff levels with approval by your management

Additional responsibilities may include application of technical support, reviewing field reports, marketing to clients, maintaining a client database, proposal preparation, and project management, as well as attending project site meetings and assisting with other administrative duties as needed.

The focus of this position will be on team leadership, however, you may occasionally be involved with field and/or laboratory testing, which may include: testing of soils, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, and asphalt pavement.

Work Environment: The employee may be exposed to weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, cold and/or heat, and dusty and noisy work environments. Noise levels will typically be moderate to moderately loud. Some weekend and overtime work may be required. You may at times also perform technician-level duties.

Physical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of what a technician may encounter in the field. You may be involved with field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing and perhaps repetitive motions. You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger, or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You will have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth vision, and ability to focus. You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day. Lifting – The employee will regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40 pounds [soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus]; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds [soils and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment], and occasionally move more than 100 pounds [such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples]. What We're Looking For:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required

BSCE from an ABET accredited college/university preferred; EIT would be a plus

2+ years of relevant experience

Radiation safety for nuclear density gauge, basic concrete and basic soils certifications required
