Director Of Manufacturing

This position reports to the VP Of Operations.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the Manufacturing Division of the company, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff to meet customer demand and delivery schedules.

Leading with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, relationship building, communication and strategic thinking.

Responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations including talent development, safety, planning, scheduling, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.

Drive a culture of operational excellence that will positively impact safety, quality, and service improvements while reducing costs through various continuous improvements techniques, including Lean.

Build organizational capabilities and the talent to support business requirements.

Provide leadership and oversight to all production shifts and management.

Develop and execute strategies, plans and associated processes to ensure production meets stated and required goals and scheduled demands for finished product.

Oversee the development and deployment of training plans, methods and curriculums.

Provides the necessary support for production management to successfully promote operators through a manufacturing Credentialed Training program.

Proactively apprise senior management and other functions of potential threats, opportunities and recommended actions.

Oversees the development and review of key performance metrics and monitors performance to ensure that defined goals are met or exceeded, and corrective action if necessary is promptly taken.

Ensures production has all the necessary tools and resources to be compliant with company policies as well as federal, state and local regulatory practices.

Ensures alignment with Quality management, regulatory requirements and manufacturing standards.

Builds effective partnerships with other department heads to facilitate open and candid communications and collaboration to drive the business towards achieving company objectives.

Builds and leads a highly performing team, secures the best talent, develops and strengthens staff and future leaders and provides ongoing coaching and feedback.

Establishes a high level of safety awareness among the team.

Creates and fosters a culture where exceptional people desire to work their highest level and are appreciated for their performance.

Developing direct reports into promotable roles.

Develops and executes to EBIDTA annual budget, including by not limited to expense and capital budgeting, planning, inventory (asset & product-SKU’s), cost controls, revenue and productivity objectives, interpretation of analytical reports/metrics and operational execution.

Ability to engage people in change and working with uncertainty and ambiguity.

Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring and training of manufacturing employees.

Manages schedules and assignments for the division.

Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance and quality standards are consistently met.

Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial and delivery goals and standards are met.

Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health and safety staff.

Assists chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.

Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.

Organizes departments management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.

Works with chief financial officer to develop operating budget.

Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.

Executing multiple, simultaneous high impact initiatives to achieve overall goals.

Exercising agility with solving problems with the ability to quickly identify profitable opportunities, diagnose errors, prioritize actions and optimize systems and processes.

Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance and layout.

Other ad-hoc duties as assigned. Required Skills and Qualifications

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent grammar and strong writing/editing and proofreading skills for presentations with all levels of management and team members.

Possess strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.

Demonstrate integrity and dedication and have a positive work attitude and strong work ethic.

Excellent organizational and managerial skills.

Strong team and meeting facilitation skills.

Experience with performance metrics and process improvement.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required, Masters degree preferred.

At least 10 years’ experience in industrial management required.

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.

Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay and squat in order to maintain equipment.
