CAD Administrator & Senior Drafter

Job Description

What You Will Do:

Lead the CAD administration function, including managing CAD software licenses, templates, libraries, and standards to ensure consistency and efficiency in design workflows.

Oversee the maintenance and updates of CAD systems, ensuring software functionality and compatibility with design requirements.

Provide training and support to design teams on CAD software usage, best practices, and standards compliance.

Serve as a senior-level drafter, responsible for creating and maintaining detailed drawings, models, and documentation using CAD software

Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement design standards and guidelines to enhance productivity and quality.

Conduct quality control checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards.

Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to interpret design requirements and translate them into accurate and functional mechanical drawings and models.

Generate and maintain detailed documentation, including bills of materials, manufacturing instructions, and technical specifications, to support manufacturing and assembly processes.

Identify opportunities for process improvement in CAD workflows and drafting procedures, implementing solutions to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

What You Will Need:

High school diploma or GED.

3+ years of experience in CAD administration. Preferably with AutoCAD

Proficiency in CAD software with advanced skills in 3D modeling and detailing - including Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor.

Experience in leading CAD administration functions, including managing software licenses, templates, and standards within Product Data Management software – AutoDesk Vault preferred.

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support design teams.

Proven ability to develop and implement design standards and guidelines.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to use the computer for full workdays.

Ability to use PPE in a manufacturing environment where safety is priority.

Travel – up to 10%.

What We Would Like:

Associate’s degree in engineering, drafting, or related field.

5+ years of experience in CAD administration and mechanical drafting.

Experience in electrical, instrumentation & control, and pipe/hose drafting.
