Optical Engineer - Deployment Engineer Active DOD Secret Clearance Required Santa Barbara Co, California Vandenberg Space Force Base @Orchard LLC has been retained by one of the most important technology companies youve ever heard of.

Our client has an immediate need for an experienced Optical Engineer, to work as a Deployment Expert on-site at the Vandenberg Space Force Base, formerly Vandenberg AFB.

As the Optical Engineer you will.

You will be responsible for on-site physical installation, implementation, and configuration of optical transport products from our client.

Function as the local subject matter expert and related standards development and interpretation of customer requirements specifications to provide guidelines on customers modernization effort.

Utilize your strong understanding of SONET, DWDM, ROADM (and other (n)OADM configurations) architecture and provisioning and implementation, coupled with an understanding of Carrier Ethernet architecture and provisioning and implementation.

Follow implementation plans based on the results of testing and provide expert engineering support in the deployment of the proposed enhancements and modifications to include Layer-0, Layer-1, and Layer-2 processes and configurations.

Demonstrate the ability to read/follow network diagrams, cabling guides, and signal flow diagrams, including, manual manipulation and installation of varying products from SFP/XFPs (Pluggable) and occasionally to shelves (Up to 75lbs). Manipulate fiber optic patches (Clean, Run, Replace patches). Provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract stakeholders.

Your background will include.

An active DOD Secret clearance (Must have). At least 5 years of experience as an Optical Engineer Working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, or relative vendor equipment.

Expert knowledge working with Layer-0, and Layer-1 protocols.

Working experience with fiber optics including, ISP (patches and connectors), and OSP (fiber characterization and OTDR). BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or a similar technical field of study.

A diverse telecommunications background, including hands-on installation.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to client locations.

Current or Prior experience knowledge with Ciena Product Family a plus, alternative tools would be Nokia/ALU, Infinera, and Cisco (Legacy 15454). If this opportunity sounds like a good fit, or if you would like more information, please apply.
