About this Position

Montana Housing strengthens our vibrant communities by supporting access to safe, affordable and sustainable homes for Montanans whose housing needs are not met by the market. Montana Housing assists with buying a home, down payment assistance, mortgage servicing, Reverse Annuity Mortgages, rental housing assistance and multifamily rental development.

A Loan & Bonds Specialist for Montana Board of Housing (MBOH) is responsible for handling a mortgage loan file from start to finish; reserving the funds, reviewing documentation and underwriting to ensure the eligibility of the loan for one of various mortgage programs and purchasing the loan. The incumbent must have an eye for detail and be able to complete tasks timely. The position reports to the Single-Family Program Supervisor, and does not supervise other agency personnel.

This position is open until filled; with first review date of 5.24.24

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or a related field

· 2 years of job-related experience, including underwriting experience

· Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

· Real Estate Finance principles, practices and laws

· Mortgage underwriting principles and practices

· Mortgage loan and banking accounting principles

Ability to:

· Analyze, interpret and apply complex program requirements

· Identify and resolve errors and discrepancies

· Manage multiple projects

· Communicate with various audiences with differing levels of mortgage loan understanding
