Summary

The Proposal Technical Writer will join a growing bid team of proposal managers, technical writers, proposal analysts, and graphic designers. This role works closely with proposal managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to craft proposals for Information Technology (IT) projects. The Proposal Technical Writer is the driving force behind gathering technical information from our subject matter experts (SMEs) and crafting responses that transform dry technical information into effective proposals.

This position requires a collaborative team member who can effectively work across all levels of ValidaTek, gathering information and producing critical content under tight deadlines. The candidate must be able to proactively engage with key stakeholders to ensure that all written content is appropriate and created at the highest quality standards, while maintaining complete accuracy and proper handling of sensitive data.

Responsibilities

Work directly with proposal team to identify and develop required content for responses

Analyze Government requirements and write technical and management solutions, including past performance and contract experience

Interview and collaborate with technical resources and SMEs on technical and management topics to develop compliant and compelling response narrative

Collect, integrate, and validate the quality of content from technical specialists and/or consultants

Identify and rework existing content where relevant

Conceptualize graphics, figures, tables, and other presentation techniques to optimize impact of information provided

Cross-reference proposal writing to the solicitation requirements and track compliance with all requirements

Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Proposal Manager in accordance with deadlines, escalating issues as required

Proactively cultivate internal network of SMEs

Maintain technical knowledge by maintaining knowledge stores of reusable content

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred to include a technical concentration

At least five years of technical writing experience supporting FAR-based acquisitions

Knowledge and Experience

Demonstrated mastery of written English, including spelling, composition, and grammar

General knowledge of IT concepts, technologies, and methodologies, such as networks, cyber security, systems engineering, software development, cloud computing, service desk management, ITIL, DevOps, Agile, and SDLC

Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude and to synthesize technical information

Demonstrated ability to grasp technical concepts and translate to compelling, understandable documents for both technical and non-technical readers

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to support and meet dynamic and tight deadlines, including occasional nights and weekends

Ability to plan and prioritize strategically

Very strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills

Ability to effectively interact with a wide range of personnel

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Demonstrated ability to multitask with high-priority demands in an intense, deadline-driven environment

Ability to think critically and draw from multiple resources to create unified and persuasive documents

Excellent attention to detail

Excellent organizational skills

Advanced MS Word skills

Experience with all other MS Office applications

Must be willing and able to provide after hours and weekend support as needed
