Job Description

An Assistant Superintendent, referred to internally as an Assistant Project Manager (APM), for BOWA plays a key role in client communication and client satisfaction during the production phase of each residential remodeling project. The APM is BOWA's field representative onsite and ultimately knows the most about and directs their assigned project. It is his/her chief responsibility to manage the day-to-day construction activities at the jobsite and perform tasks to move the project forward (administrative, carpentry, or other construction related).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete Lead Carpenter responsibilities:

Direct and manage other carpenters on site

Complete carpentry work as needed with “tools on”

Own and maintain appropriate tools to complete the job

Assist in scheduling and oversees building department inspections

Assist in supervision of BOWA employees and subcontractors on a daily basis

Assist in estimating material list quantities, getting lists to the Production Manager for pricing, oversee efficient use of the material and return of unused materials

Assist in communicating and "managing" the client on a daily basis. Relay any important information from the client to the Production Manager

Keep informed as to the project as a whole including plans, change orders and specs

Maintain a two week future schedule of jobsite events including: material delivery dates, daily work, manpower needed, and summary of subcontractor work scheduled and completed

Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Production Manager, subcontractors, clients, and architects as necessary

Assist in supervision of jobsite safety, cleanliness, security, and protection from damage during construction

Keep up to date plans with any changes. Disseminate this information to employees and subcontractors on the jobsite

Maintain a jobsite file folder containing all job related information including: work order, project specifications, change orders, subcontractor contracts or information, purchase orders, technical specs., architectural details, two week schedule and complete project schedule (prepared by Production Manager)

Attend quarterly training meetings in the office with all project managers and production managers

Use of computer as directed by Production Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Preferred Requirements:

Bachelors degree, preferred in Construction Management or related field

Minimum of 2 years experience in Remodeling related work and/or carpentry

Be able to communicate with others clearly

Must have reliable transportation, tardiness is not acceptable

Schedule: Official work day: Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Overtime is occasionally necessary.
