Scientist, Oncology TTD Target Discovery

Are you a motivated independent lab Scientist with wet-bench laboratory experience? Do you have a passion for advancing the field of Oncology? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Tumor Targeted Delivery team in Early Oncology in Gaithersburg, MD USA. As a Scientist, you will support target validation efforts for tumor-targeted therapies, such as antibody-drug-conjugates (ADCs) and targeted radio-conjugates. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advance pipeline programs and deepen our understanding of all aspects of target biology.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will support target validation efforts for one or more pipeline programs. You will work collaboratively with project leads to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data. You will design, conduct, troubleshoot and analyze in vitro experiments using an array of biochemical, molecular and cellular biology techniques to validate new targets and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be highly collegial, collaborative, data-driven, and have a passion to learn and grow.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 1+ years of lab research experience

Solid understanding of cell and molecular biology

Laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular and cell-based experimental techniques such as flow cytometry, western blots, qPCR, ELISA, confocal and fluorescent microscopy, cell cytotoxicity assays and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing

Works equally well independently with supervision and in collaboration with other teams

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced matrix environment

Ensures one’s own work, and the work of peers, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health, and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations

Desirable Skills/Experience:

Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry viewed favorably

Experience in cancer research
