Medical Assistant Part-Time / bilingual Spanish-English (JACKSON HEIGTHS)

Roosevelt Cardiovascular, is seeking for a full-time experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to work in our family practice. Certification and experience as a MA is required. As a MA, you will learn and grow alongside the clinic, making a positive difference in the patient experience and quality of care. Working one-on-one with patients as a MA, you will deliver routine medical care and monitor the flow of on-boarding patients. Duties include, but are not limited to :

Organize the clinical environment and provide support in patient care situations. Support assisting physicians along with various other procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a medical provider. Assists provider with collection, documentation, processing, and verification of information related to patient care in an EMR system. Assists other team members in identifying patient needs or problems. This includes communicating data to the provider or other members of the clinical team. Coordinate with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience. Prepare patient to be seen by the physician, collect vital signs and testing as required by the healthcare provider. Ensure policies and procedures are met, maintaining an ongoing discretion with sensitive and confidential matters.

Responsibilities and Duties

Primary Responsibilities :

Welcome patients and obtain medical histories accurately in a timely manner.

Perform all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's standards of practice.

Operate diagnostic equipment, collect blood specimens via venipuncture.

Practice standard infection control precautions and sterilizing on medical equipment.

Organize exam and treatment rooms.

Knowledgeable on eligibility.

Knowledge on prior authorizations, claims, and re-submission.

Eclinical software is a plus.

Answering phones.

Updating and filing out patient medical records.

Coding and filing out insurance forms.

Performs electrocardiograms.

Assist providers during examinations and treatments.

Respect patient confidentiality at all times and treat patients with courtesy.

Assist the front office team as needed.

Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Preferred Qualifications :

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and a High School diploma or GED equivalent. Two or more years experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting. Two or more years of demonstrated customer service experience. Experience working with an EMR system. Phlebotomy experience. Knowledge of medical terminology. Basic computer literacy.

Bilingual is a MUST ( SPANISH-ENGLISH).

Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
