Main Purpose:

Responsible for ensuring that all chartered vessels are fit and well maintained; all ports of calls are declared safe and comply with the marine specifications, company standards and the PNG Maritime regulations and laws.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all voyage port of calls to be declared safe ports before vessel is allowed to call into each port

Ensure that all marine issues raised are attended to on time.

Responsible for ensuring that any vessel time chartered, sub-chartered, or spot chartered are class maintained and meet the company’s standards and specifications and other important marine standards and specification.

Responsible for ensuring updated vessels’ certificates and noted issues requiring owner’s attention are attended to on a timely.

Responsible for all terminals to receive cargo off the vessel have administered the ship shore safety checklist before any discharge is to occur and immediately after a shift of ship and or shore is changed to ensure safe operations during all discharge operations;

Responsible for ensuring that displacement, draft and port limitations are adhered to for the safe passage of the vessel to individual discharge port

Attend to any vetting reporting requirements for other freight buyer requirements in liaison with the ship managers / owners and maintain file records for draft soundings of all port berths on every voyage

Liaise with the port authorities and national regulatory bodies on all outstanding port.

Conduct and assist all contracted marine surveyors on any audits on the ship or at each port.

Carry out berth reviews of all new ports vessel will add to its schedules.

Attend all marine related meetings and conferences coordinated by marine statutory bodies and other related parties.

To ensure all Marine and Shipping operations, safety and Audits involved with very critical operational interface meets with and Industry procedures and standards without compromising customer service.

Comply with company requirements and systems relating to SAPS, HSEC & Quality and other company policies

To formally report to their Manager any concern or incident / injury / non-conformance in any aspect of their work and complete the PE PNG Incident / Non Conformance Report form.

To formally report to their Manager or supervisor any hazard, practice or condition that will affect safety or production or the community.

All forms are completed as outlined in the procedures

Any discrepancies of goods / services received are to be addressed through the Non Conformance procedures

All products are to be verified at appropriate stages as outlined in procedures and a record maintained

Requirements:

Experience:

Tertiary education in Business Management or a relevant field, A recognized shipping qualification applicable to the role and/hold a /demonstrated track record in a related field.

Some years of experience in an oil and/or gas/chemical industry role, preferably seafarer experience on oil and chemical tankers.

Familiar with current computer programs used within the industry.
