PAY: $20-$27 depending on experience plus $120 for non-local

SKILLS:

Computer literate with knowledge of Company and mainframe computer.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, resourcefulness, and good judgment in dealing with others.

Fundamental problem-solving.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for receipt inspections.

Has the authority to accept, reject or rework defective or malfunctioning units as per procedures.

Responsible for managing OQE documentation for work assigned to them.

Maintains internal contact with Receiving, Safety and Production.

Preparation and distribution of weekly QA metrics

Performs non-destructive testing and critical coating inspections as required by specifications, NAVSEA Standard Items, process control procedures or other technical documentation (when assigned these duties).

Ensure all QA inspection equipment being utilized is calibrated and is certified under the companyâ s calibration process/programs.

Research standards and specification requirements to develop monitoring/surveillance plans.

Review all Work Specification items, drawings, technical manuals, NAVSEA Standard Items or other contract documentation to ensure all Testing and Inspection requirements are identified or captured in the TIP.

Performs monitoring and reports work in process observations/surveillances/audits to provide an overview of adherence to work specifications and the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.

Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.

Reports to QA Supervisor or QA Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to pass a Standard Jeagerâ s Test chart for near vision acuity reading letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishiharaâ s Test for color-deficiency.

Crawling, crouching, hearing, kneeling, pulling, siting, standing, stooping, talking, carrying, lifting, walking.

Must be able to go on vessels.

Must be able to climb vertical ladders, work around moving machinery and perform tasks while using a sky climber, scissor lift and/or condor.

Able to use basic Lean and Six Sigma principles to provide recommended solutions to identified or perceived problems.

Able to set, self-calibrate and use assigned testing, inspection, and QA instruments.

Must be able to perform the essentials of the position including the ability to work at heights, enter tanks, voids, and cofferdams to perform competent person duties.

Skilled in blueprint reading, precision instrument utilization, and technical manual interpretation, military standard/specifications, regulatory body requirements, and shipbuilding specifications.

Knowledge of ship construction and repair procedures including welding, structural, machinery, electrical piping, ventilation, and familiarity with various measuring instruments related to inspections.

EDUCATION:

Technical/Associate Degree, preferably Q.A./Marine-related or equivalent, or 4 to 6 years of Quality Assurance inspection experience or equivalent trade related. Certified as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector Level II (includes VT, PT, MT, and UT) to NAVSEA TECHPUB requirements. If not certified, must be able to be certified if assigned these duties. Certified in accordance with the NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI) course, NACE International Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 or higher, or SSPC Protective Coating Inspector Program (PCI) Level 2.
