Job Description
Primary Function: Coordinate all payroll-related information and processes
Education: Accounting degree preferred
Qualifications: 5+ years or more of payroll experience, knowledge of accounting principles and payroll systems. Paychex Flex experience a plus.
Responsible for In-house payroll process for approximately 450 employees
Process payroll files in Paychex Flex for biweekly, semi-monthly (salaried), and semi-monthly (commission) payrolls
Validate the payrolls to ensure accuracy
Audit new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations for accuracy
Track unreimbursed benefit expense for commissioned employees
Validate Paychex setup of garnishments and liens
Set up labor levels and assign employees
Establish short-term disability schedule to process
File worksite reports for Virginia
Post cash receipts and accounts payable
Post receipts for commissions
Process AP payments to commission vendors
Advance draw payments
Reconcile & process benefit payments
Support operations managers
Communicate payroll calendars & cutoffs
Handle manager / employee payroll questions
Knowledge of the hourly time system
Prepare compensation, overtime, and cost allocation schedules
Process Semi-monthly 401k contributions (Empower)
Review the file for accuracy
Upload the file and record it in the enterprise system
Support payroll audits for workers' compensation and general liability insurance policies
Provide projected payrolls
Review job classification and associated rates
Other items
Process yearly discrimination testing
Assist with the 401k and ESOP census and audits
Complete employment verifications
