School Occupational Therapist (OT)

Job Description

The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD has an opening for the 2024/2025 school year for a Full-Time, 10-month, Occupational Therapist. The Katherine Thomas School is a private special education school that services students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities, and autism that serves students in grades K - 12. EOE

Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist:

* Evaluate and provide individual and group therapy as well as classroom integrative services

* Work closely with the educational team to provide comprehensive services to students on their caseload

* Prepare accurate and timely documentation and report progress of students

* Participate in school and departmental staff meetings

* Use a variety of virtual programs and platforms to support students' learning during virtual learning

Requirements for the Occupational Therapist:

* Masters from an accredited Occupational Therapy program

* Certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association

* Eligibility for Maryland licensure must be established prior to employment

* Two to three years of pediatric and school experience is preferred

* Assistive technology experience a plus

* Ability to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation

* Ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans

* Will consider an experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

As a condition of employment, all new hires are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
