JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will work under the guidance of the Assistant Controller. This position will include updating and maintaining financial records and reports, assisting in the monthly financial statement close and review, and performing account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant also assists the overall Accounting department on as needed assignments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in the Monthly Financial Statement Closing Process
Assists in the Year End Financial Statement and Audited Financial Statement Process
Preparing monthly account reconciliations
Preparing various journal entries as required
Maintains accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing)
Assists in the implementation and upgrading of the accounting system(s) as needed
Assists in special projects, ad hoc analysis and process improvement projects
Meeting processing and reporting deadlines
Responding to information requests
Answering financial and accounting questions through research and interpretation of data
Ensuring compliance with GAAP
Assisting the Controller and Assistant Controller as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Education/Skill
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or MBA with Accounting concentration
Minimum of two years of experience in Accounting
Advanced PC skills with proficient use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook required
Experience with financial systems software required. Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task and work independently.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Exceptional judgment and attention to detail
Dependable and reliable attendance required
Willingness to work overtime as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lift, push or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently
Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing / sitting / walking
Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and specific vision abilities including close vison, distant vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
