Industrial Hygienist

Job Description

Duties:

Selection of sampling equipment, protocols and analysis needed to quantify or measure hazards known or suspected to pose a health or safety hazard.

Interpret applicable federal occupational health standards to employee hazards.

Evaluation of employee hazards and/or exposures resulting from complex work processes.

Recommend control measures, where needed, to mitigate employee exposure to hazards.

Recommend medical surveillance for employees who are potentially overexposed to occupational hazards.

Document all assessments in a written format determined by the Safety Manager.

Education/Experience:

Knowledge, gained by a 4-year occupational health & industrial hygiene degree from an accredited university, with experience and training of no less than 5 years of work in an industrial or hospital or university staff position (not faculty position educating students), and by continuous efforts to keep abreast of the changes in the health and safety field; all-encompassing a wide range of concepts, principles, practices and the skill to apply this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments.
