Job Description

The senior technician role works independently and at times, in a supervisor role, has expert knowledge of low voltage installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Fire, Access Control, CCTV, Audio\Video, and Intrusion Alarm Systems, communicates well (written and verbally) with customers, subordinates, supervisors, and other trades.

SKILLS:

The qualified candidate will possess the following skills:

Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and specifications operational/product manuals.

Perform installation, troubleshooting, programming, and commissioning of Low Voltage Fire, Security and Access Control Systems

Expert knowledge of all types of door hardware i.e. maglocks, strikes and electrified lever sets.

Expert knowledge of proper wiring and use REX and PTE devices as well as relay logic.

Ability to program and troubleshoot above listed systems.

Must understand networking and IP addressing of medium to large LANs

Must know how to setup network devices for offsite viewing or control.

Advanced knowledge in the operation of basic pc programs and management software

Manage adherence to contract scope, specifications, and code on assigned projects.

Manage material to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and staged.

Coordinate code requirements with local inspectors and serve as technical advisor on system programming and configuration.

Communicate with the Project Management team regarding production schedule, scope changes, back charges, material and labor management.

Establish and maintain relationships with customers to ensure customer satisfaction,

Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.

Ability to work well independently and with a team

Travel to different jobsites as needed.

Must be able to explain in simple terms issues and resolutions to customers

Must be able to train subordinates in advanced systems and programming.

Must be able to work directly with customers at a high level of professionalism.

Familiarity with testing equipment and tools of the trade.

Able to climb ladders and work in a construction environment as required.

Must maintain professional ethics, appearance, and demeanor.

Must have attention to detail

Be able to lift, push, and pull 50lbs. including overhead.

Job responsibilities / qualifications will include:

At least 3-5 years of experience directly related to installing and servicing low voltage equipment, such as the following fire, voice/data, security system, CCTV and / or other low voltage system installation experience

Install, program and commission small commercial systems independently.

Train end users, maintenance staff.

Install various door hardware and devices.

Train lower level technicians on installation, programming and troubleshooting of systems.

Present new systems to help facilitate the Client needs.

Prepare and update service tickets, and all project/customer related documentation

Strong knowledge of electronics and associated circuitry.
