The Prospect Researcher is primarily responsible for conducting donor and prospect research services at UNCF in support of the annual campaign efforts for the Development Department to include corporations and foundations, major gifts, and area offices. In addition, provide supplementary prospect research support to the Advocacy, Branding Marketing and Communications and Government Affairs departments. Direct report to the Senior Prospect Research and the Vice President of Direct Response Programs and Prospect Research. Also reports to the EVP, Development and the SVP, HQ Development.About UNCF

Execute donor research activities and processes.

Help to develop and implement research strategies in conjunction with the Director of Prospect Research and the Vice President of Direct Response Programs and Prospect Research.

Create research donor profiles and lists for research requests.

Make detailed observations of donors and prospects philanthropic behavior, analyze data, and interpret results.

Utilize established prospect and donor research techniques to compile and analyze data.

Write prospect and donor reports and profiles with great accuracy using standard English, proper sentencing, good spelling, grammar and punctuation; report writing; document research outcomes and store them in the RE database or as directed; create and analyze lists detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.

Help identify top suspects, prospects, prospective donors.

Liaise with senior management and directors in the Development Division to identify, schedule, and implement research requests; gather, collate, disseminate donor, and prospect trend information.

Input information and update data in Raisers Edge general database attached to appropriate record.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsEducation and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university in English, Journalism, Library Sciences and Master’s degree preferred; 7+ years of related work experience in non-profit prospect research; knowledgeable of Raisers’ Edge or similar donor database software (Nexis, WealthEngine, Iwave Pro, D&B, Hoovers)Other Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, organized, and comprehensive research briefing papers.

Ability to collect and research data, Design workflows and procedures.

Strong analytical skills; gather and analyze information skillfully.

Ability to locate and interpret financial reports and biographical information from a variety of sources.

Knowledgeable of internet search engines

Competency in a variety of computer applications, including database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs; Proficiency in O365 Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High degree of customer service skills

Multi-task with high levels of accuracy on concurrent projects

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material in a responsible manner.
