Title: International Development Scout – Performance

Reports to: Assistant Director, International Scouting – Research and Information

Location: Dominican Republic or Venezuela

Status: Full-Time

Position Overview

The International Development Scout – Performance will be responsible for supporting the operations of the International Scouting department across Latin America. You will play a key role in our amateur talent acquisition process by providing detailed information on players’ current physical capabilities and estimating their future physical capacities through a variety of assessment protocols. You will also take an active role in the physical development of the organization’s youngest prospects, including all aspects of strength, mobility, speed, agility, flexibility, conditioning, and recovery for each player. To do so effectively, you must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the critical link between the development of general physical capabilities and on-field success.

This is a full-time position that we would like to have start sometime prior to June 1, 2024 though we are flexible in this regard. Ideally, this position will be based out of either Venezuela or the Dominican Republic and will require a significant amount of travel across Latin America, including to our academy in Boca Chica, DR.

Responsibilities

Frequent communication with Assistant Director, International Scouting – Research and Information and Coordinator, Latin American Strength and Conditioning.

Evaluate prospects’ current and future physical and athletic capacities through a variety of assessments, including but not limited to movement screens and jump testing.

Operate a variety of performance technologies to assess, monitor, and drive training and evaluation decisions.

Upload and maintain prospect and player information onto both internal and external platforms.

Collaborate within a multi-functional performance team to design, implement, and adjust comprehensive physical development programs specific to each player.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a strength and conditioning professional.

The ability to demonstrate an understanding of how physical development can positively affect on-field performance.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Technologically proficient; able to learn new software applications quickly.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Positive attitude, willingness to learn, humility, and a competitive spirit.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional working proficiency in both English and Spanish.

Active NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Experience in a high-level sports setting, preferably baseball.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Drive.
