Job Description

Qualifications

•Mobility: assisting with walking or to use a wheelchair

•Epilepsy: responding to a seizure/possibly administering medication

•Safety: awareness of the person’s environment and on-going risk assessment

•Eating and drinking: minimal to high support depending on the person

•All workers are required to use proper PPE (hand sanitizer, etc)

•Care-giving: (Some experience preferred)

•Driver's License (Required)

Responsibilities

•Build an effective working relationship with the person using the service

•a) Listen to the person and learn how he/she communicates their feelings, preferences and interests, including through body language

•b) Initiate interactions with the person, include him/her in conversations and discussions and support others to communicate with the person

•c) Support the person to experience new opportunities, express preferences, and make informed choices

•Support the person to participate in activities and in everyday community life

•a) Support and facilitate the individual’s participation in community activities and opportunities where the DSP is doing things with and alongside the individual, not for the individual

•c) Ensure a Community Integration Plan is developed and followed, and that this plan is meaningful and beneficial for the person

•Provide a high level of support to meet the person’s needs

•a) Address a person’s individual support needs which may include helping them with

•Personal care: providing some or all aspects

•b) Provide support in a manner which respects a person’s right to privacy and upholds their dignity

•Work effectively with family, friends, and other team members

•a) Establish good working relationships with family/other team members

•b) Provide regular feedback

•c) Be open to learning and guidance from others

•Work within Susan-Right Healthcare’s principles, policies, and procedures

•a) Demonstrate a person-centered practice, an understanding of and commitment to inclusion, and the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities

•b) Know and follow Susan-Right Healthcare’s policies and procedures

•c) Be responsible when handling expenses

•Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour

•8 hours shift

.12 hours shift

•16 hours shift

•Weekend availability
