Reporting directly to the Director of EHS, we are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team.

The Safety Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our employees, facilities, and processes. You will be responsible for implementing and managing safety programs, conducting regular inspections, and fostering a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization. Additionally, the Safety Coordinator will collaborate closely with both the 1st Shift EHS Manager and the 2nd Shift EHS Manager in identifying and mitigating potential hazards, providing training and support, and promoting a safe working environment that complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices

Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations to identify potential areas of concern and ensure compliance with safety standards

Collaborate with various departments to establish and maintain effective safety communication channels, including safety committees, meetings, and training sessions

Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety-related issues, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment maintenance, and emergency response procedures

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence

Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and activities

Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, hazard identification, and emergency response protocols

Monitor and track safety performance metrics, analyze data trends, and prepare reports for management, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions

Stay updated on relevant safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices, and ensure the company's safety programs are aligned with current standards

Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies

Collaborate with external agencies, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with safety requirements during site visits or project execution

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field • Relevant certifications or additional training are highly desirable

Proven experience (2-3 years) working as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry

Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and practices, including OSHA, FDA, and HACCP guidelines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and train employees at all levels of the organization

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend appropriate solutions

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety programs and policies that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage inspections, investigations, and safety documentation

Proficiency in using safety management software, incident tracking systems, and other relevant tools

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
