Senior Civil Engineer

As a Senior Civil Engineer, your role encompasses leadership, design oversight, and coordination of civil engineering projects. You’ll provide guidance on design procedures, interface with clients and public agencies, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Here are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:

Responsibilities:

Team Management: Supervise a team of 5 to 10 engineers and technicians.

Workload Monitoring: Monitor workload, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and Professional Engineer (PE) seal plans.

Issue Resolution: Address issues with agencies, clients, and internal staff.

Project Coordination: Coordinate land development projects with clients, agencies, and internal teams.

Project Management: Act as Project Manager for select clients, overseeing entitlement processes and department coordination.

Client Relations: Be the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their satisfaction.

Business Development: Bring in new work and clients, actively participating in marketing efforts.

Technical Expertise: Read and interpret survey data, legal descriptions, government standards, and codes.

Design Preparation: Create site and subdivision plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including storm water management, sewer plans, water network analysis, erosion control, and pavement design.

Permitting Assistance: Assist clients with bonding and permitting procedures.

Stakeholder Interaction: Interact with county staff, clients, and the public, attending night meetings when necessary.

Industry Involvement: Participate in industry-related associations and organizations.

Requirements:

Licensure: Hold a Professional Engineering license.

Software Proficiency: Be competent in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Communication Skills: Exhibit above-average written and oral communication abilities.

Organizational Skills: Demonstrate project organizational and time management skills.

Experience: Possess 15+ years of experience as a land development engineer, preferably in Maryland.

Management Experience: Have 5+ years of experience supervising engineers and/or planners as an engineering manager or project manager.

Entitlement Process Knowledge: Understand the land development entitlement process through local and state agencies.

Client Reputation: Be well-respected by clients and agencies.

Your expertise will contribute to successful construction projects that adhere to specifications and timelines.
