Job Description

Our remodeling company is looking for an experienced carpenter to join our team. We specialize in complete home remodeling, kitchens & bathrooms remodels, dry rot repairs and seismic upgrades .

We are looking for an energetic and motivated carpenter with framing and finish experience who can think outside the box and takes pride in their work. The ideal candidate will have his or her own truck and tools and be willing to travel within a 25-mile radius. If this sounds like a good fit, please apply with resume. Looking for someone with strong background in framing & trim work and experience in setting concrete formwork and rebar installation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs a variety of rough and finish carpentry work.

• Performs skilled mill and cabinet work involving construction, finishing, and repairing of buildings, doors, and other building related items.

• Builds forms, frame walls and opening for doors and windows

• Maintains tools and machinery in safe and efficient operating condition.

• Prepares drawings and sketches of construction and repair projects.

• Know to operate and safely use skillsaw, sawzall, jigsaws, planers, miter saw and table saw.

• May assist in cement work, fence repair, and other work as necessary to complete the task required.

• May be required to work in other trade areas on a temporary basis.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Formal carpentry coursework desired

Experience:

Four year carpentry experience desired

One year apprentice or two or more years as journeyman

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Valid California Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of

Trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled carpentry and in general maintenance and repair.

• Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.

• Technical aspects of carpentry field.

• Proper methods of using equipment; materials and supplies.

• Oral and written communication skills.

• Basic record-keeping techniques.

• Federal, State, and local building codes and regulations.

• Operation and use of hand and modern power tools and equipment.

• Proper lifting techniques with an ability to lift 80lb.

Shop math applicable to the building trades.

• Oral and written communication skills.

• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy

Ability to

1. Perform skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing, and finishing on projects.

2. Construct, install and repair building components

3. Ability to follow all safety rules and regulations involved in assigned activities.

4. Effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment used in the skilled carpentry trade.

5. Interpret shop drawings, sketches and work orders.

6. Perform heavy physical labor.

7. Understand and communicate blue prints.

8. Make accurate arithmetical computations.

9. Maintain routine records and reports.

10. Understand and follow oral and written directions.

11. Ability to layout demolition work, assess and locate possible hidden services in walls slabs or other areas impacted by work.

12. Maintain a clean safe work environment.

13. Perform duties effectively, timely, and without supervision.

14. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
