Description:

Coordinate with the rig's geological contractors and the client's subsurface and drilling departments daily to ensure all geological, and electric logging data is successfully acquired per the drilling program. Lead pore pressure surveillance efforts at the Wellsite. Generate daily geological report and well logs.

Responsibilities

Examine and provide detailed geological cuttings samples and hydrocarbon show descriptions.

Correlate all the geological, LWD, e-log, and paleo information with offset well data to provide a detailed and accurate formation evaluation and interpretation.

Provide real-time analysis of all geological and engineering data and give feedback on wellbore conditions, potential formation pressure variations, and formation variations.

Ensure the correct characterization and prompt reporting of connection gasses and trip gas.

Manage the monitoring and reporting of relative caving's volume and cuttings character both in the samples and at the shale shakers.

Use all available data to prepare a daily geological report, and wellsite geological log in Company required format.

Supervise and quality control all the geological contractor services, including mudlogging, LWD, Wireline logging, and coring contractors. Ensure all data from geological contractors is QC'ed and correctly distributed daily.

Witness all electric logging operations conducted at the rig site to ensure operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner and to provide high-quality data acquisition and delivery.

Provide input for MDT pressure and sample points and immediately report any suspected tool malfunction or failure to the Company Man and the Client Operations Geologist.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Geoscience from a recognized University.

Process strong spoken and written communication skills.

Have a minimum of 5 years deepwater drilling experience in the specific role of Wellsite Geologist.

Have extensive experience working in the sub-salt deepwater drilling environment of the Gulf of Mexico.

Extensive well-monitoring and PPFG analysis skills and experience

Experience with coring operations.

Experience with QA/QC of wireline logging operations, including rotary sidewall coring and MDT sampling.

US citizen
