Job Description

Role - Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary - $120,000 - $150,000 (dependent on experience)

Type - Permanent

Location - Reston, VA

My client works within the Aerospace / Telecommunications sector and are on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a direct-hire basis near Reston, VA.

Strong experience in the full Mechanical design and test of spacecraft or UAVs is desired.

Those with additional experience in the Thermal and Structural analysis of a range of composite and metal materials will be of interest.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will have the following attributes:

· BS (or similar) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

· 5+ years’ experience in design and integration of aerospace structures and electronic enclosures / routings for harsh environments.

· Full proficiency in Mechanical Design using SolidWorks.

· Strong experience in the design for 3D printed tools / components.

· Thermal analysis experience.

· Excellent knowledge of a range of materials.

· Prior experience in supporting documentation of test procedures.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer’s role will involve:

· Leading Mechanical Design for satcom, spacecraft and groundcom systems.

· Mechanical and structural analysis of hardware.

· Thermal analysis of full systems and components.

· Support integration and testing.

· Working cross-functionally alongside Electrical and Software Engineering teams.

· Supporting documentation of test and design procedures.

· Preparing and delivering technical reports.
