Job Summary:

We're seeking a highly motivated, bilingual (English and Spanish) General Immigration Legal Assistant/Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years of experience to enhance the efficiency of our case handling and ensure effective management. In this role, you'll deliver a comprehensive range of legal support services under the guidance of a team of skilled attorneys within our collaborative firm environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.

Drafts legal documents including but not limited to affidavits, cover letters, and personal statements

Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.

Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.

Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.

Assists attorneys with USCIS application packet preparation including but not limited to residence petitions, DACA applications, work permit renewals, U-Visas, refugee/asylum applications, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions, waivers, etc

Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Communicates with government agencies such as USCIS

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish

Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma required.

Associate degree or better in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred; Paralegal certificate preferred.

Three years experience preferred.
