As an ELA Preschool Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for following lesson plans, implementing age-appropriate activities to promote early learning and social development, collaborating with teachers and staff as needed, and ensuring the health and safety of children.
Ideal candidates are caring, enthusiastic and responsible individuals willing to assist in the daily curriculum activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of preschool and school age children.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow daily plans left by Lead Teacher
Collaborate with ELA staff and Assistant Teachers as needed
Engage, manage, and motivate young children with compassion, energy, and attention to detail to ensure the individual needs of each child is met
Foster a positive and healthy learning environment
Responsible for mealtime and snack activities of the group. Monitors children closely during meals
Assure all required classroom documentation and record keeping is completed in a timely manner (attendance, injury reports, parent reports & updates)
Ensure that all children are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness
Maintain confidentiality on school related matters
Supervise all activities to ensure safety of each child at all times, complete incident or illness reports and communicate information to the Director immediately.
Adhere to policies and procedures of the ELA
Maintain Teacher/Child ratios posted in rooms
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Preferred: College or Associates Degree in the field of Education or
similar field
Required: High School Diploma in (or GED); some post high school education in early childhood development or similar field preferred.
Previous experience working with young children
Knowledge of strategies and activities appropriate to the age group. Ability to be flexible within daily routines and schedules to capture “nurturing and teachable moments”
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other staff members
Required Documents
Completion of Background check process
Documentation of negative TB screening/test
Physical Requirements
Young children are very active. To teach young children effectively and keep them safe, the teacher must be physically able to keep up with children
Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teach
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel as needed
