As the Director of Quality, you will oversee SCI’s ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Systems. This includes execution of SCI’s strategic quality plan and departmental tactics and collaboration with department leaders to ensure consistent quality outcomes. You will report to executive management, ensuring quality initiatives align with industry standards and make programmatic, policy, and staffing recommendations as needed to optimize performance. As the Director of Quality, you will manage a Quality team, and work with leadership throughout the company, to help us achieve this standard every day. Your leadership will be instrumental in upholding the following roles and responsibilities through both personal initiative and effective management of your team.

Role and Responsibilities

Demonstrates commitment to the development and improvement of SCI’s Quality Management System (QMS) through the provision of necessary resources.

Understands ISO/IEC 17025 and NAVSEA standards as outlined in the quality system documentation.

Ensures the Quality Management System (QMS) is monitored and maintained in accordance with the ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

Has ownership and provides leadership over the Quality Management team to ensure conformance to policy for the following:

Accredited Calibration and Testing

Complex and Non-Standard Products or Services

Military Grade Cleaning

Navy/ASME/ABS Approved Welding and Brazing

Control of Externally Provided Processes

OEM Sensors Repair

Shipping and Receiving

Oversees and integrates with the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager to support all activities and preparations for audits in order to satisfy customer requirements and maintain accreditation.

Reviews quality system documents as required by SCI’s document control procedures.

Ensures integrity of the Quality Management System is maintained when changes are planned and implemented.

Serves as SCI’s single QA point of contact when required by customer or regulations.

Ensures management review meetings occur annually in accordance with the quality manual.

Approves departures from the QMS.

Works with Department Managers to review requests for quotes (RFQs), solicitations, professional service agreements, contracts, specifications, drawings, internal, statutory, or regulatory requirements, and any other considerations to ensure contractual requirements are understood and flowed down to appropriate SCI or Subcontractor/vendor staff.

Overall responsible for:

Ensuring all records required by quality standards/policies are controlled and maintained as necessary to provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of conformance to requirements and effective operation of the QMS.

Developing and implementing a specific quality plan for a process, product, or contract, when customer specified requirements are beyond the control or capability of SCI’s established QMS.

Planning and implementing effective product monitoring and measurement systems including receiving, in-process, and final inspection and test activities as well as the use of appropriate techniques needed to ensure process control at the product, project, or contract level.

Managing internal audit processes.

Establishing and implementing an effective corrective and preventive action system.

SCI QMS document content.

Operational Excellence

Reports to the Board of Directors (BOD) or Advisory Board (AB) as applicable to align with corporate objectives and assist technical staff in the analysis and resolution of complex problems commonly found in measurement and high-quality requirement processes.

Coordinates with BOD or AB as applicable, and/or department managers on performance improvement actions using lean initiatives, where appropriate.

Supports tasks to achieve cross-functional business goals for technical operations, sales, and customer service.

Uses skillsets to work independently and/or as a team contributor to develop methods, concepts, procedures and techniques to support tasks directly related to organizational business goals for technical operations, sales, and customer service.

Departmental Managerial Training Responsibilities

Fosters a positive, productive, healthy, and rewarding work environment.

Develops, mentors, and trains Quality Department Employees.

Communicates (both through words and action) that the company values employee growth.

Identifies employee training needs and provides recommendations on programs and activities to include contractual compliance and employee developmental trainings.

Assesses Quality department developmental needs to continuously drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable training solutions.

Assesses departmental training effectiveness, determines the impact on employee proficiency, and monitors achievement of employee/department goals and key performance indicators.Requirements:

Educational / Training Requirements

BS degree in a business or technical field, plus 10 years’ experience, OR

Equivalent military/industry-related training with a working knowledge or demonstrated capacity to comprehend metrology, plus 15 years of experience.

Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards (minimum of 10 years’ experience)

Professional certifications in relevant estimating fields will receive higher consideration.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities related to safety program management will receive higher consideration.

Additional Requirements

Must have experience running quality programs; certified trainer is an asset.

Environment

This role operates primarily in a professional office environment and will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers. There may also be:

Exposure to hot and cold temperatures

Occasionally need to work in dirty environments
