What You'll Do:

Provides program direction on behalf of the Educational Options and Policy Section Chief of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce:

· Manages, develops and communicates standards, rules, policies and procedures regarding the Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) program;

· Manages, develops and communicates standards, rules, policies and procedures regarding blended learning declarations;

· Manages, develops and communicates standards, rules, policies and procedures regarding online learning schools; serves as primary DEW contact for the Digital Learning Collaborative,

· Coordinates stakeholder engagement including newsletters, office hours, and webinars;

· Supervises the creation of program materials and website information;

· Supervises arrangements for professional learning sessions and conferences for the Educational Options and Policy Section;

· Monitors the operational workflow of necessary documents, timelines, conference calls and agendas for the program area projects;

· Supervises the rulemaking process and implementation of legislation for the Office of Community Schools, Office of School Sponsorship, and the Office of Nonpublic Educational Options;

· Coordinates development of SST reporting and DEW review of documents;

· Serves on various committees and task forces upon request of the Section Chief, representing agency program areas or as a representative of the Section Chief’s office;

· Represents Section Chief at meetings & conferences with state, federal & community agencies;

· Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with senior and administrative staff with Department staff and constituencies;

· Supervises program administrator and directs work of administrative professionals;

Acts on behalf of the Section Chief by independently performing non-routine administrative tasks (i.e., independently formulates decisions &/or judgments involving non-legal interpretation of policies & procedures):

· Actively monitors and maintains Section Chief’s daily calendar and appointments, providing any necessary briefing or preparation;

· Serves as liaison between administrator and staff; independently drafts documents and correspondence;

· Initiates communications;

· Transmits confidential decisions and directives;

· Maintains accurate stakeholder contact information;

· Organizes meetings (e.g., prepares materials & schedules resources);

· Arranges for a recorder for advisory and/or committee meetings;

· Handles sensitive telephone calls, tracks for replies;

· Updates and maintains web pages;

· Serves as office timekeeper;

· Attends meetings as requested.

Performs or supervises secretarial tasks to assure organizational demands are met:

· Supervises and coordinates administrator’s appointment calendar;

· Schedules meetings and/or conferences, teleconferences, travel arrangements as necessary;

· Creates, prepares & maintains daily meeting materials and correspondences;

· Proofreads, tracks and monitors daily reports/correspondences, sensitive information, and telephone calls;

· Researches and collects information;

· Maintains confidential files.

Performs other administrative and/or programmatic related duties as may be required or requested.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 2, 63123.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
