Advancing Health Professionals (AHP): a Peace Corps Response program, is seeking two Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) educators with University of Eswatini (UNESWA) without the provision of direct medical care to patients or clinical supervision of students. The position requires a doctorate in nursing, Master of Science in nursing- family nurse practitioner, current advanced practice nursing licensure, minimum two years’ clinical experience as FNP, university teaching experience both in-person and online with Moodle and other digital modalities to interact with students, and flexibility in working in a resource constrained setting. Experience with preceptorship and mentoring of FNP student in internship and familiarity with health care systems in resource constrained settings are desired qualifications.

The Master of Science, FNP program, is a three-year part-time program starting 2017. Students are enrolled in the FNP program in cohorts at varying stages of progress. Courses in the FNP program are taught by PhD-prepared faculty. UNESWA promotes and offers blended learning for most programs and the Peace Corps Response Volunteers will take part in teaching courses both on the online platform and face-to-face sessions and will share insights on how to make the most of both teaching approaches in nursing education.

The PCRV will co-teach in-person and online courses, co-prepare, co-teach and post learning weekly learning materials, co-teach clinical skills in simulation laboratory, co-supervise undergraduate and post-graduate research projects, participate in developing proposals for submission to external bodies for funding, and assist academic staff in developing research projects.

Peace Corps Response established its "Advancing Health Professionals" program in 2019. Response Volunteers serving with the AHP program seek to improve health outcomes on a societal level by providing high-level, specialized service in the health sector. AHP projects include health professions educators, health systems strengthening, service delivery improvement, and other non-clinical interventions that enhance the quality of healthcare.

Invitees will be arriving in Eswatini together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.

Required Skills

• Doctorate degree (PhD or DNP) that will allow the Volunteer to co-teach master’s level coursework

• Master of Nursing Science - Family Nurse Practice.

• Current Registered Nurse licensure (required for local Eswatini Registered Nursing License)

• Minimum two years experience working as an FNP in a clinical setting.

• Comfort and skill with teaching using both traditional face-to-face and online platform (Moodle) and the digital modalities of communication to interact with students and the counterpart

• Experience with teaching nursing at university level.

• Flexibility in working in a resource constrained setting
