Position: Medical Lab Technician

Location: Orange, CA

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and medical conditions. They collect samples, conduct tests, analyze results, and maintain laboratory equipment and records. The MLT works under the supervision of a Medical Technologist or laboratory manager to ensure accurate and timely test results.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect and prepare specimens, such as blood, urine, and tissue samples, for analysis.

Perform routine laboratory tests, including hematological, chemical, microbiological, immunological, and cytological tests.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.

Prepare reagents and solutions used in laboratory procedures, following standard protocols and safety precautions.

Analyze test results and report findings to healthcare providers, documenting results accurately in laboratory information systems.

Follow quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues.

Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and infection control guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory work area, including proper storage and labeling of specimens and supplies.

Assist in training and supervising laboratory assistants and other staff members as needed.

Stay updated on new laboratory techniques, equipment, and regulations through continuing education and professional development activities.

Requirements:

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field from an accredited program.

Certification or licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) required.

Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.

Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and other computer software.
