Manages/Supports the Aviation Fire Services function within assigned area of responsibility, typically a large FOB or multiple FOBs on an international project. Responsible for Fire Services team that routinely mobilizes to various locations within 24 hours to support services supporting Fire Operations. Responsibilities include providing leadership of Aviation Fire Services through planning, organizing and directing the operation of all aspects of fire protection programs. Identify and recommend future Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) planning and execution requirements. Shall manage and account for all assigned materials and equipment. Shall manage inventories throughout operations activities. Must anticipate and plan for shortfalls in materials, equipment and ARFF capabilities. Shall ensure all Aviation Fire Services members meet training and certification requirements outlined in DOD 6055.06-M. Maintain proficiencies, licenses, and certifications in accordance with applicable regulations and Host Nation guidance, NFPA, and ARFF regulations. Plan for movement of materials, equipment, and personnel in support of mobile ARFF operations to various locations. Conduct daily inspections of personal protective gear for serviceability and accountability. Prepare and conduct training for military personnel or subcontractors on ARFF operations and fire protection as needed. Ensure the safety of all firefighters by requiring proper procedures are followed. Responsible for planning and conducting emergency response exercises.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

As directed by management, may supervise employees or subcontractor personnel in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

Basic Job Requirements

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be 7 days a week/ 10 hrs. a day while on Camp Lemonier. Deployment to forward location may exceed 30-day intervals, or as directed by the mission. While on deployment missions, the contractor work schedule shall be 7 days a week/12 hrs. daily. Environments can be from conventional indoor office workspace to project worksites with harsh, working and living conditions. To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the contract, employee will possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions. Position requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions. Must complete a rigorous physical fitness test.

Other Job Requirements

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Fire Chief or a Deputy Fire Chief. Must have in-depth knowledge of DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (DODI 6055.06-M) or industrial/ municipal equivalent. Must have experience with the Army Emergency Management Program (DA PAM 525-27). Must respond to all calls and alarms.

Preferred Qualifications

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

Must possess a standard issue civilian driver’s license.

Minimum Certification Requirements:

International Fire Service Accreditation Certifications Fire Officer IV Fire Inspector II Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander Airport Firefighter

Shipboard firefighter

Prior contingency or military experience preferred.
