The Opportunity

We are seeking the next Accounting Manager for our client, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity (RMHFH). RMHFH is a 35-year-old nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call their home. Habitat believes affordable housing plays a role that is critical in building strong and stable communities. RMHRH is seeking the next Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team.Position Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to manage key aspects of their financial operations. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, this position will be responsible for performing various functions as outline below:Responsibilities:

Prepares and maintains RMHFH general accounting records accurately and completely; including but not limited to, journal entries and financial status reports

Support the VP of Finance and Finance Committee with budget variance analysis and cash flow projections, assist with the budgeting process across all internal departments

Responsible for ensuring all daily cash receipts from all ReStore sales are accurate and recorded on a timely basis

Ensure accounts payable invoices and requests are appropriately authorized, approved and recorded; issues 1099s to subcontractors as required

Process bi-weekly payroll via a third-party payroll provider and reconciles all payroll reports to ensure proper recording by department, remits 403b payroll withholdings to the third party benefits administrator

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, journal entries and account reconciliations such as Fixed Asset Depreciation Schedule, Restricted Funds, FSA and HRA, etc.

Prepares ad-hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends

Maintains internal/external customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential

Assists the VP Finance & Administration with organizational Human Resources support including administration; disability claims; unemployment; and Workers' Compensation claims/ premium audits

Carry out all responsibilities in accordance with RMHFH policies and applicable laws

Other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting or related business field. Also, will consider extensive training and experience in lieu of a degree

5 to10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment

Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

Knowledge of payroll processing and tax regulations

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Must be willing/able to work on-site

Experience in nonprofit, real estate development, construction accounting a plusBenefits:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary range is $70,000 to $80,000.
