A leading West African manufacturer and supplier of plastic materials with operations in Cote D’Ivoire and Togo is diversifying into food production projects. The first project is production of tomato products in Togo bordering Ghana, Benin, and Burkina Faso. The capital is Lomé. Tomato is the highest consumed fruit in West Africa. Over 60% is consumed in processed form. Become part of a dynamic team to establish and maintain this multi-million-dollar development utilizing state of the art technology. Job Summary Responsible for establishment and management of the technical department, covering food safety, quality assurance and all certification and legal requirements of the food business. Responsibilities:

Manage and control the technical department to ensure compliance with regulations, quality assurance and relevant food safety standards and certification.

Lead, train, guide staff and develop an integrated food safety and quality management system for the processing plant in cooperation with the management team.

Ensure raw material suppliers and service providers are monitored for compliance.

Manage and plan analysis of products and production (microbiological and chemical testing and schedules)

Ensure hygiene, housekeeping, food safety and quality standards are maintained at required levels and readiness for audits.

Ensure diligent record keeping, document control and procedures to ensure successful food safety certification.

Liaise with management and customers on rejections, complaints, corrective action reports and continual improvement. Qualifications and Skills:

Tertiary qualification in a food-related discipline – Food Science/Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry.

Experience working in food production, FMCG, QC, QA, Food Safety, Testing, Production, Manufacturing, Auditing and Administration.

Excellent knowledge of FSMS (ISO 22 000, FSSC 22 000, BRC, FSSC 22 000, ISO 9001, TQM, HACCP, PRP’s, Hygiene, GLOBALGAP, Health and Safety (OHS).

Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience working in a technical/food safety and QA management role in production.

Microsoft Office, computer literate, and ERP or database systems.

Proficient in English (French will be an advantage).
