Position: Volunteer - Site System Operations

Type: Volunteer

Schedule: Part-time, unpaid 2+ hours shifts, ten-week position.

Start Date: Monday, May 13, 2024

Location: Ohio History Center

Reports to: Director, Site Systems Operations

Summary:

Conduct data entry to create a comprehensive properties database of all OHC managed properties. Research hard file and online county auditor files and scan documents.

Essential Functions:

Research deed files and county auditor records to gather site property

information

Conduct online property record research through Ohio's county auditor's

websites

Data entry of information into an Access database

Scan deed files to create a digital repository and link to database

Interact with Site System Operations and Financial Accounting Systems personnel

Ensure program materials are properly handled and maintained.

Required Education, Skills, Experience:

Experience with Microsoft Suite and Google Products is needed.

Required Competencies:

Works well both independently and with and in support of colleagues to complete work.

Demonstrates a potential to communicate well in written and verbal communications, including informal mediums like email and meetings

Must complete a background check and onboarding paperwork

Must create and account, log hours, and sign up for shifts via Track It Forward

Must attend professional development and organizational meetings as needed

Reliable and punctual

Flexibility, enthusiasm, and an attitude of respect for working with

diverse staff and visitors.

Ability to read through documents from a variety of sources

Ability to navigate multiple Ohio county auditor websites and conduct

property record searches.

Physically able to sit for long periods of time while engaging in

computer work, bending over to access files in cabinets.

Use of scanner and digital record system

Education and Experience Outcomes:

Will learn about the history of Ohio History Connection sites

Will learn to work alone and within a team environment

Will learn about aspects of administrative record keeping through

training and on-the-job experience

Will gain an understanding of the inner workings of a non-profit

museum

Knowledge of museum best practices and procedures

Experience in data and record handling, processing, cataloging, and

housing.
