Overview:

0.9 FTE, 36 hr./wk. Nights, 7p- 7a. Every other weekend & rotating vacation requirement

Non-Exempt. Full Time Benefits Eligible

Minimum hourly rate: $34.00. Pay to commensurate with experience

Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

C4C NICU Overview:

-C4C is a 42-bed intermediate acuity & chronic complex non-BPD unit.

-Patient Population consists of neonates starting at 28 weeks corrected gestation.

-Multidisciplinary team of physicians, neonatal nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, PCAs, UCs, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, music and message therapists, who all work together for best patient outcomes.

-Variety of neonatal medical and surgical diagnoses including, but not limited to, prematurity, feeding difficulties and other gastrointestinal disorders, congenital and chromosomal abnormalities, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.

-Respiratory support includes NC, HFNC, and NCPAP.

-Central and peripheral lines for fluids, medication, and nutrition. Feeding tubes and ostomies.

-RN ratios are 1:2 patients or 1:3 patients

-1-2 PCA/LPNs/shift which may increase RN ratio to 1:4-5 patients

-C4C has a unique geography, utilizing a combination of open pods and private rooms- 30 open pod beds and 12 isolation rooms.

Candidate characteristics:

-Bachelor’s degree

-Previous NICU experience or NICU clinical preferred but not required

-Learning mindset, able to adjust to changing healthcare environment

-Family focused and able to meet parents where they are at in their journey

-Teamwork orientation, empathetic, flexible

Responsibilities:

Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.

Assesses individualized patient needs.

Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.

Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.

Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.

Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.

Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

BSN

Licensure:

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications:

Current CPR certification required.

Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Must be able to independently lift up to 35 lbs.

Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
