Mechanical Product Design Engineer 1

The Engineer performs or reviews mechanical facilities system designs and assists with the development of client reports that address project requirements. The Engineer develops technical calculations, specifications and data sheets, performs technical evaluation of bids, and recommends best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety. The Engineer will have senior technical mentors for assignments.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) from an ABET accredited program, MS.or PhD preferred.

* EIT certification preferred.

* 1-2 years experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

* Apply techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of an overall project.

* Develop and apply skills in product design & development;

* Conceptualization and product function

* Performance requirements compliance

* Detailed engineering analysis

* Simulation of operation

* Codes & standards compliance review

* Review for manufacturability

* Evaluation of Technology Readiness Level (TRL)

* Consumer product review

* Engineering analysis

* Detailed Finite Element Modeling of linear/non-linear systems

SKILLS AND BEHAVIORAL TRAITS:

* Tolerance for ambiguity and desire to collaborate and learn.

* Structured approach to solving problems.

* Clear and concise written, visual and verbal communication, especially for technical issues.

* Willingness to collaborate across engineering disciplines, organizations and geographic boundaries.

* Technical skills in mechanical engineering or related discipline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Design of heat transfer and thermal systems.

* Stress analysis.

* Multiphysics analysis.

* Model validation and correlation to physical approximations.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

* Must be able to communicate clearly to others.

* Must be able to see small detail variation.

* Must be able to meet tight deadlines, working overtime if necessary.
