Fire Fighter 1

Description External

Under direct supervision, responsible for front line fire, EMS, rescue, hazardous materials and support operations demonstrating knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and EMS protocols. Will maintain emergency vehicles and facilities. May provide related training to the public as needed. Required

High school diploma or GED.

Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter certificate and State’s Department of State.

Health Services Paramedic certificate.

Must have or be able to obtain class B CDL or CDL Exempt State’s Driver’s License.

Must be able to pass physical ability test.Desired:

Intermediate and/or Advanced Fire Certification. Must be able to acquire a precise knowledge of response district including streets and major block splits in the response area. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Travel: No
