The Role We Want You For:

The Controls Design Engineer I will support the process electrical team, to ensure that control systems for design / build projects are properly designed, specified, and procured. Candidate will provide status updates related to schedule and budget throughout the project.

The Specifics of the Role:

Produce DCS & PLC I/O schematics and loop drawings using AutoCAD.

Specify and produce control panel layouts.

Develop Instrument and IO lists.

Gather and review bids from automation suppliers.

Support the preparation of construction drawings depicting wiring, tray layouts, and instrumentation plans.

Develop installation scope of work documentation.

Develop electrical equipment and packaged control system specifications.

Participate in internal and external design review meetings.

Produce control system architecture diagrams and assist in developing DCS/PLC control narratives.

Perform contractor RFI and submittal reviews.

Support process flow diagrams and P&ID development.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering. Completion of the fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam is a plus.

Minimum 2-5 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience involving industrial projects.

Experience with certification and code requirements (Awareness of Electrical Codes & Standards; IEC, NEC, UL for components certification, ISA, ASME, ANSI)

Knowledge of hazardous area design.

Must be knowledgeable in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Ability to walk a job site and climb ladders.
