Job Summary:
The Structural Revit Designer will support the delivery of 2D and 3D design packages for projects from various markets and industries. This role involves steel and concrete design work, executing the development of design deliverables start to finish, defining and implementing continuous improvement of the related processes, leading other designers in small project teams, participation in quality reviews, coordination with other engineering disciplines on projects, and client interactions.

Internal relationships: Designers, Engineers & Project managers
External relationships: Clients, subcontractors, vendors
Office hours: M-F, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Essential Functions and Duties
Grow, learn, and innovate
Provide structural design and drafting services that meet the needs of our clients as well as the overall project scope, schedule, and budget requirements
Ensure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverables
Ensure that our structural steel and concrete deliverables conform to industry standard requirements
Lead small project designer teams, ensuring the work is accurate and coordinated and that all quality assurance measures have been followed
Coordinate structural design elements with other disciplines
Listen to clients’ needs and independently provide value by developing and evaluating options based upon project success factors
Communicate design recommendations to our clients, project teams, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and/or phone
Able to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and customer service
Develop and refine structural designer methodologies, tools, and standards
Meet critical deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Stay abreast of relevant industry developments and technology advancements
Mentor team members to develop additional strengths and competencies within the group
Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems, and conditions as required

Familiar with structural steel and concrete design industry standards of practice for deliverables
Experience executing multi-discipline design packages with an integrated approach
5+ years of industry experience
Associate’s degree in a related engineering technology discipline or equivalent work experience.
Skills/abilities:
Design Software:
Revit - 3+ years experience required
BIM360, Navisworks, and Bluebeam experience a major plus
AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Inventor and Advanced Steel experience a plus
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience interpreting general arrangement drawings to identify the project’s structural scope
Ability to create 3D structural models from discussions with structural engineers, sketches provided by structural engineers, specifications, and reference drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge
Ability to read and understand orthographic drawings
Ability to create 2D orthographic drawings from models for communication of a design in construction documents
Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications
Basic knowledge of industry standards such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and OSHA
Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures
Ability to work with 3D scanner point clouds as part of the design process is a plus
Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills both internally and with clients
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies
Location: Richardson, TX
Travel: Work will involve travel to clients' facilities, usually local area; up to 10% of the time.
