Certified Medication Technician (CMT)

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to join our healthcare team. The CMT will have a strong clinical background and be responsible for assisting licensed nurses with medication administration and ensuring the safe and accurate distribution of medications to patients in our facility. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

Administer medications to patients according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to dosage instructions.

Document medication administration accurately and timely in patients' electronic health records (EHR) or medication administration records (MAR).

Monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects to medications and report any concerns to the nursing staff promptly.

Assist with medication reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy of medication lists and prevent medication errors.

Maintain inventory of medications and supplies, ordering and restocking as needed to ensure availability and prevent shortages.

Follow established procedures for medication storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulatory guidelines and facility policies.

Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding medication regimens, side effects, and medication management strategies.

Collaborate with licensed nurses and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.

Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain certification and stay current with best practices in medication administration and patient care.

Adhere to ethical and legal standards governing medication administration and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program and current certification as a CMT.

Valid CPR certification.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration and documentation.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.

Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing patient needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Physical ability to lift and move supplies and equipment as needed.

Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a Certified Medication Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting.

Additional certifications or training in medication administration or medication management.
