Description:

Purpose: Prepare estimate of quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories and related products required for projects in which Nucor Rebar Fabrication seeks to offer a bid so that contractor customers can receive timely proposals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values.

Prepare estimates of the quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products required for bidding projects, and work with the branch manager to prepare and submit quotes.

Collaborate with management, the detailing department, suppliers, and other relevant parties to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.

Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and branch teammates regarding all aspects of the estimating and bidding process.

Maintain an ongoing bid calendar, including tracking for addenda and updates, to ensure accurate estimating and to keep branch management aware of bid schedules and upcoming work.

Minimum Qualifications Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college or currently enrolled.

At least six (6) months of experience with AutoCAD and Windows-based software Construction and concrete-related construction knowledge and experience are preferred.

Basic knowledge of construction or civil technology is considered an asset.

A valid NL Class 5 Driver's License is required.

Ability to read architectural/engineering blueprints.

Ability to work as a team member on projects with an aptitude for problem-solving.

Organized and detail-oriented.

Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities.

Effective verbal and communication skills.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Preferred Qualifications Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or equivalent construction/field estimating experience Two-year degree in drafting or construction-related field (preferred) Ability to review bid plans to assist in the assessment of the project in the schedule, scope and strategy Knowledge of concrete structures, CRSI/ACI standards Proven knowledge of the construction industry Must have exceptional communication skills- both written and spoken Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Must be able to meet critical deadlines and handle changing priorities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
