Description
The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) within the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and Serooeng Primary School in Lesotho have requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Digital Library Implementation and Evaluation Specialist. The Ministry has identified a challenge with delivering robust information resources to learners and practitioners within the education sector and building digital literacy skills. Part of the response to that challenge is to expand the pilot project with the SolarSPELL library initiative in primary schools, to implement and evaluate the impact of SolarSPELL digital libraries in health and education settings more broadly across Lesotho.
The PCRV will be part of a working team that includes a dedicated specialist and officer from the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as teachers from different nursing schools, primary schools, and secondary schools in each district. The PCRV will co-teach in a local primary school and serve as a curriculum development specialist to strengthen the capacity of local teachers and improve their educational materials and curricula. The PCRV will also facilitate trainings or learning sessions focused on expanding information literacy capacity for students and identify and procure additional local content approved by NCDC/MoET to be added to the digital library.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Lesotho together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
