POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Electrical Engineer will develop electrical technical packages for Business Development projects, resolve problems for ongoing marine projects, develop all applicable documentation, and supervise the resources to support the assigned project. Support Class Design Services as needed from time to time. In addition, actively participate in developing Concept Designs for various Classified & Commercial Marine Projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer assist the Ship Design Technical Lead and Project Engineer in meeting the assigned tasks.

Power Generation & Distribution in marine vessels

Electrical Power Load Analysis (EPLA)

Batteries & UPS systems and Sensors

System integration of all ship electronics

Navigation & Communications

Master Control Center Operation

Steering and Propulsion electronics

Cabling requirements to support power distribution, lighting, and communications.

Fire & Gas Monitoring Systems

All diagnostics related to the above

ABS / DNV Rules pertaining to marine vessels.

Navy / USCG Regulations

SOLAS / IMO Regulations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include and not limited to the following.

Work independently in solving assigned technical issues.

Plan, estimate, schedule and monitor assigned work

Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments

Supervise assigned resources

Facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout MMC

Prepare, check, and issue professional quality deliverables.

Interpret contract requirements in keeping with applicable technical specifications / regulations

Develop contract change documents to support the project needs

Track and control subcontractor activities as needed

Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Electrical Engineer shall supervise assigned junior engineers or engineering technicians. Supervisory responsibilities shall be in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work and performance appraisal. The Senior Electrical Engineer also demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in electrical / Electronics Engineering with 6 years of marine related experience or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering with 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.

Supervisory experience strongly desired.

Six Sigma or LEAN training desired.

SKILLS:

Must have technological skills proven by verifiable and specific work experience, technical publication, or patent issue.

Must have a working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process.

Ability to develop and interpret AutoCAD 2D & 3D drawings, modeling and revisions as needed.

Must have current computer skills relevant to the field of competence and must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.

Must have ability to work within schedule and budget restraints.

Must have strong organizational and time management skills.

Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.

Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.

Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.

Must be able to obtain and hold level of Secret Clearance or able to meet the requirements to gain a Secret Clearance is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fulltime office-oriented assignment in Washington DC. Travel to outlying facilities will be on 'as needed' basis and limited to 20%.
