Job Title: Workforce Specialist

Job Summary

The Workforce Specialist reports to the Director of Workforce Development (Virginia). The purpose of the Workforce Specialist is to assist individuals in obtaining competitive, integrated employment, and to provide Individual Employment Services (ISE) to attain their employment goals.

1. Promotes Melwood’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Prepare participants for employment through individualized interventions/activities that lead to successful job search outcomes, employment interviews, resume building, and effective workplace communication skills. Work with participants to foster positive interactions and employment outcomes.. Track all communications and interactions including outcomes, barriers, opportunities, and challenges through required documentation.

2. Complete assessments and implement services to participants in accordance with their referral service guidelines.

3. Provides advocacy and training for employer and co-workers to promote individual integration in the workplace.

4. Performs follow-up activities and provides ongoing support to the individual and employer to promote job retention for eligible participants, including crisis intervention and retraining as needed. Coordinate and provide support that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and participant-centered.

5. Performs job development to locate appropriate jobs in the community and when necessary, conducts job analysis to determine specific job requirements and general work characteristics.

6. Prepares, completes, and files vocational plans, case notes, progress reports, report bills, and other reports required for comprehensive case record maintenance according to Melwood policies and procedures, and as directed by specific project compliance standards.

7. Provides Placement and Training services in job readiness and during initial on-the-job training using systematic instructional techniques, as needed by supported individual.

Bachelors degree and at least 1 year experience required.Company Description
