The Role of the ODI Fraud and Enforcement Division:

The agency’s Fraud & Enforcement Division was established to ensure all Ohio insurance laws are abided by and enforced. The Division is responsible for conducting administrative and criminal investigations related to unauthorized insurance transactions, agent misconduct and insurance fraud.

The Fraud & Enforcement Division is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong work ethic to supervise a staff of Insurance Investigation Officers. The individual will have excellent communication, problem solving, investigative and organizational skills.

What You'll Do:

As an Insurance Investigation Officer Supervisor within the Enforcement Unit, your key responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

Supervises a team of Insurance Investigation Officers within the Enforcement Unit.

Reviews and assigns complaints about insurance agent misconduct and activities of other licensees or persons who appear to be engaged in the business of insurance

Reviews and analyzes results of investigations to determine sufficiency of evidence; consults with Executive, Assistant Directors, Insurance Investigation Administrator, Attorneys, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies and other regulators on questions of evidence, investigation strategy and procedure, and violations of law.

Actively participates in investigation of alleged agent and agency misconduct and other licensees or persons who purport to be engaged in the business of insurance;

Testifies at administrative or court hearings

Assists law enforcement personnel in executing search warrants and other legal documents or processes

Participates on task forces and committees relating to insurance fraud or violations of insurance laws

Trains investigators in investigative and departmental procedures and policies; completes performance evaluations

What’s in it for you:

The final candidate can expect to be paid at step 1 in the assigned pay range as a new hire, unless otherwise required by legislation or union contract. As an Insurance Investigation Officer Supervisor, you will receive an increase after six (6) months then an annual step increase until you reach the last step in the pay range. Additionally, there are opportunities for possible annual cost of living (COLA) adjustments and a longevity pay supplement after five (5) years of state service.

This position is designated as telework eligible. The agency has a hybrid work model (i.e., working in the office and working from home on a schedule based on operational need). As such, successful candidates must have and maintain internet at their remote location during normal working hours. In addition, employees must reside in Ohio and within a reasonable distance from the Department location to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

6 years experience in law enforcement that includes 4 years in conducting investigations; 12 months experience or 12 months training in operation of computer terminal &/or personal computer.

-Or 7 years experience n insurance (e.g., sales; marketing; claims; investigations; compliance; regulatory); 12 months experience or 12 months training in operation of computer terminal &/or personal computer.

-Or Completion of undergraduate core program in business, insurance, criminal justice, computer science or liberal arts; 5 yrears experience in insurance (e.g., sales; marketing; claims adjuster; investigations; compliance; regulatory); 12 months experience or 12 months training in operation of computer terminal &/or personal computer

-Or 36 months experience as Insurance Investigation Officer 2, 26272, with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved job description; satisfactory completion of 5 insurance designation courses or possession of Certified Fraud Examiner designation or possession of Fraud Claim Law Specialist designation

-Or 24 months experience as Insurance Investigation Officer 3, 26273, with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved job description; satisfactory completion of 5 insurance designation courses or possession of Certified Fraud Examiner designation or possession of Fraud Claim Law Specialist designation.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
