Overview:

Manages daily operations in the lab, supervises and trains staff on procedures, and ensures that the standard operation procedures and quality control program is compliant. Provides on-call coverage for section on rotating basis on holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Maintains records, collects experimental data, and retains accurate logs of methods, results, and conclusions. Maintains a quality control program to ensure accuracy and integrity of research data. Conducts analysis and interprets results with input from PI.

Prepares reports and results of experiments for PI review. Ensures accuracy through quality control program.

Assists the PI with the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals. Attends scientific conferences and gives scientific presentations.

Orders supplies needed to conduct research, maintains inventory, and ensures equipment is in working order. Supervises the equipment maintenance program.

Assists with preparation of annual budget for personnel, capital equipment, and supplies.

Supervises daily research, manages scheduling, trains on procedures, and oversees administrative activities of laboratory staff. Develops new laboratory procedures and performs specialized procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience, required. Master’s Degree, preferred.

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant research experience, or Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant research experience, required.

Employee uses advanced and independent judgment to adapt a knowledge of skills, methods, practices, policies/procedures & an element of innovation & advanced reasoning to complete work that is project oriented & involves some complex problems &/or decisions.
