Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Maintenance Mechanic

Working with wine is cool. Want to work with wine? Wineshipping is a tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies, managing the fastest, most accurate, and most cost-efficient delivery network in the US for wine, beer, spirits, and more. Wineshipping was voted North Bay Business Journal’s Supplier of the Year (Wine Beer & Spirits Awards), and most recently “Best Place to Work” by Best of Napa County Magazine. By the way, wine literally likes to stay cool, so our facilities are all climate controlled.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing general preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and repairs of all conveyors, production equipment and building-related equipment. This requires an intermediate working knowledge for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to be able to detect minor problems and correct them before they become larger problems. This position regularly responds to production critical issues, provides troubleshooting assistance, and makes adjustments and repairs as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Keep the team SAFE. Our first responsibility is that everyone goes home in the same or better shape than they showed up that day. We need someone who can act immediately regarding any safety hazards, spills, etc., to avoid the risk of accidents. The ability to use safe lifting techniques and operate power equipment in a safe manner is essential.

No shortcuts. We need someone who can abide by all state and OSHA regulations while performing work, i.e., lockout/tag out procedures. This requires great communication with all peers, customers, and management regarding safety issues and training requirements.

Things get done when equipment works. We need you to develop, implement, and report on preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, and facilities.

Regular inspections are critical. Equipment and facility needs should be identified immediately for maintenance, cleanliness, and any safety concerns. This also includes the Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift/Turit)

Work gets done when conveyors work. We need someone who can perform reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to our conveyor system and sorting equipment. This means cleaning and lubricating machinery, performing basic diagnostic tests, checking performance, and testing damaged machine parts to determine whether major repairs are necessary; includes the assembly/disassembly of pneumatic sub-systems. We need someone who is quick to troubleshoot the conveyor system controls and adjusts/calibrate or repair as needed, both preventative and reactive.

Projects are cool. Just like our temp-controlled environment. We need you to keep the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building cleanliness up to Wineshipping standards. Other projects come up, too. So, we will need your assistance there.

The lights stay on 24/7. We need someone who can perform troubleshooting and tasks involving low and high voltage electrical and control systems of 480-volt devices (AC and DC), including repair or replacement of system components.

Building stuff is fun. We need someone who can fabricate and utilize materials and tools to create/repair custom equipment to support the operation (i.e., wood, metal, etc.).

Supplies are always needed. We need you to keep an eye on inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for maintenance and general warehouse tasks and provide recommendations.

We need you to make sure we are on track to hit budgets and expenses for maintenance and office supplies.

We love a good working relationship. We need you to assist in sourcing and evaluating contractors and suppliers and help source impressive third-party service providers.

Training is key to helping employees know how to do their jobs. We will need your help training staff on safety procedures and equipment operation where needed.

No one likes missing things. We need someone who can keep excellent records of time, parts, and repairs. We also need someone who can perform necessary data entry i.e. work order tracking/filing and keep current tools and documents updated as necessary, like Material Safety Data Sheets.

Other things may come up from time to time, giving you exposure to things you have not done before. “Other duties as assigned” sometimes, but we like to keep it interesting.

Showing up to work consistently and on time is needed. You may sometimes need to work beyond your regular work hours and occasionally on a weekend.
