What We Do

The Senior Analyst, Wealth Investment Research is responsible for creating, managing, and tracking the list of securities, mutual funds and ETFs that are approved, and setting criteria for risk assessment of securities.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to and be the subject matter expert for the investment risk framework, understanding model portfolios and conducting research to evaluate risk. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with all key partners on the implementation of approved securities including (but not limited to) investment research, legal & compliance, and client facing teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Actively manage approved list of securities, mutual funds and ETFs and monitor securities that are accepted from client accounts

Build, maintain and communicate approved list of securities, mutual funds and ETFs that are allowed within client accounts

Ensure securities booked to client account are matched to approved list if there is a discrepancy educate advisors via policy (ie. Alternatives, OM, offshore)

Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for compliance, audit, regulators, advisors, and clients as directed by management

Establish criteria to risk assess securities and ensure all securities have a risk rating and investment objective

In partnership with compliance and investment management, develop and maintain policy and procedures to risk assess securities

Ensure all securities have a risk rating and investment objective, use available research, reports, prospectus, offering memorandums

Tracking progress across priority projects; identifying risks, and proactively managing them based on direction from management.

Undertake research and evaluate risk criteria to support investment recommendations and monitor securities / model portfolios within compliance tools

Be the subject matter expert for securities compliance tools, manage and maintain approved securities list within investment management and dealer compliance systems

In a timely and accurate manner, update changes to approved securities list based on established criteria and/or research and seek appropriate sign-off on ratings to ensure research was complete

Monitor assigned investment solutions, model portfolios and recommended lists adherence with their stated investment objective and guidelines

Build strong relationship with investment and client facing groups, educate teams on investment solutions

Provide regular communications and updates to client facing teams including relevant market commentary, investment solution updates, and thought leadership on investing and market related topics

Support work with end clients through review and comparison of portfolio solutions

Aid in custom portfolio design as needed

What You’ll Need

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated analytical skills

Team player and relationship builder

Motivated self-starter and ability to work under pressure of time deadlines

High attention detail including accuracy, writing style and presentation

What We’re Looking For

7 - 10 years of relevant investment industry experience

University degree (in Finance or related field) or equivalent work experience

Knowledge of mutual fund, ETF and/or securities, and associated investment risks as well as understanding of stated investment objectives and guidelines

Experience with portfolio management, risk management, portfolio analytics and tools to support this work

Experience with investment products and product compliance is an asset

Progress toward, or completion of CFA designation/advanced business or financial analysis degree
